5 Questions You Should Ask Before Your Appliance Delivery

Getting a new appliance delivered is exciting, until the delivery crew is there and your new refrigerator won’t fit through the doorway. A little bit of preparation prior to your delivery date can save you time, stress, and unexpected surprises.

Before your new appliance arrives, here are five important questions you should ask to help ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Does it fit my space?

Before making a purchase on your new appliance, the most important thing is confirming that the appliance will fit in your home. Even if you’ve already measured the space, it’s important to take into account any doorways, hallways, staircases, or tight corners the delivery team will need to navigate to get the appliance to where it belongs. To be completely transparent, this is not something my husband or I took into consideration; we knew the fridge would fit into the space in our kitchen. We did not know, however, that both our side and front door were too small to allow the delivery team to get it inside. Needless to say, this did not make for an easy day! If your space is difficult to measure, Hallocks offers their own in-house measuring service. One of their technicians can visit your home and work alongside your salesperson to help determine the best appliance size and fit for your space.

Once you’ve determined that the appliance will fit, it’s helpful to clear and map out a pathway from your home's entrance to the installation area. This allows the delivery team to move quickly and safely without disrupting your home or schedule.

2. What will I need for installation?

Different appliances require different installation parts and connections, and having everything ready ahead of time helps avoid delays on delivery day. Thankfully, Hallocks’ trucks are stocked with anything you may need, but it’s important to have these discussions with the sales team prior to the day of delivery to avoid any last-minute charges or delays.

  • For any refrigerator with a water dispenser or ice maker, Hallocks will only connect to a stainless steel or PEX waterline. Don’t worry if your current set up has a copper line– Hallocks offers waterline replacement for $239.99!
  • All dishwashers require a dishwasher installation kit to properly secure the unit underneath the counter (the cost of this kit is typically included under Hallocks’ installation price, but if you’re performing your own installation, ensure you ask a sales member to add it to the order!)
  • An electric range will require a new plug to be installed, as any old cord will void the warranty
  • If you’re in the market for a new washing machine, the fill hoses may need to be upgraded to stainless steel hoses, as the older rubber ones often void the manufacturers warranty
  • Your standard electric dryers require an additional installation kit that includes the cord, flex vent, and clamps.
  • For any gas appliance, Hallocks partners with Bill’s Appliance to ensure safe and professional installation services.

3. What happens with my old appliance?

Something to keep in mind is the disposal of your old appliance. Luckily, if you’ve elected to have Hallocks do the delivery and installation, the professional installation team will also remove your old appliance at no additional cost. If you’ve got an extra appliance for Hallock’s to dispose of, let them know, and they should be able to remove that additional appliance for a small fee. That way, there’s no need to coordinate a separate hauling or disposal service. Removing an old appliance properly is important for safety and environmental responsibility, not just convenient!

4. What time is my delivery coming?

At Hallocks, we understand that waiting around all day for a delivery can be frustrating, especially when you have a full time job. The day before your scheduled delivery, the team will send you either an email or a text message with a three-hour delivery window. This allows you to plan your day more easily while still giving our drivers flexibility for traffic and installation timing. On the delivery day itself, the team will also contact you when they are on the way to you from their previous stop so you know exactly when to expect them. We know your time is valuable, and clear communication helps make the delivery experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

5. What if I have a problem with my delivery?

Even with careful planning, sometimes stuff happens that is out of anyone's control. If you experience any concerns with your appliance, installation, or delivery schedule, Hallocks’ team is there to help! Whether the delivery appointment needs to be rescheduled, you have questions about the installation, or notice an issue after the delivery team has already left, contact your local Hallocks dealer.
